The former Tory Minister, Nick Herbert has today expressed his concerns over fracking and how this technique of extracting natural gas could spread all across the beautiful British countryside. His concerns are how the fracking industry could impact and cause damage to several areas.

Nick Herbert expressed his concerns in an interview with the national newspaper, The Telegraph. In this interview he told them that the fracking industry could lead way to new housing developments in the countryside, this is in areas that building on would not be dreamt upon previously.

As the fracking industry is so new to the United Kingdom many people have vast concerns as there is not yet any knowledge of what implications it might have. This lack of knowledge is causing people to worry about the potential damage it could have on our countryside.

The Fracking Unknown
Nick Herbert the former Tory Minister has called for our government to share more information about the future of the fracking industry in the UK with the public. He wants information on the process the government is using to deal with local communities and how the industry might affect them.

There is a great deal of concern in the new areas that are being target for the drilling process. As there is little knowledge about the new industry, people living in these areas are concerned about what the potential implications this could cause to their livelihoods.

The locations in which the new fracking sites are popping up are tranquil places in the heart of Britain’s countryside. People living in these areas want to preserve the countryside and they think that the fracking industry is going to ruin the area.

Cuadrilla the UK’s largest fracking company last Friday started test drilling in a new location in West Sussex. This cause a large number of protesters to gather at the entrance of the site, these protesters all having concerns about the implications the drilling is going to cause to the local area.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change does not seem to worry about the fracking industry, with a spokesperson saying that it is safe and causes no risk to the environment.

There seems to be a lack of communication between the government, the drilling companies and the people living in the local areas where the fracking or test drilling is taking place. If there was more transparency from the government and the drilling companies the local people might be a little less worried, the fact the government and drilling companies are keeping so quiet causes the local people to be suspicious about them.
